Elizabeth Taylor joined the ranks of many other celebrities and famous individuals at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif., on March 24. Of course, Taylor was a famous Hollywood actor who twice won the Academy Award for best actress, among other accolades and recognitions. Glendale's Forest Lawn Cemetery has been the resting place for countless well-known individuals since its opening in 1906. Walt Disney
The Walt Disney Co. is an internationally recognized and popular company. Obviously, Walt Disney is the man who started it all from the animated films to the theme parks. Disney is still a popular and well-known brand around the world to this day. After his death in 1966, he was cremated and his ashes were placed in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The ashes exist in a garden near the Freedom Mausoleum. Amusingly, there are various conspiracy theories over what actually happened to Walt Disney's body after his death.
Michael Jackson
One of the most recent inhabitants of Forest Lawn Cemetery is Michael Jackson, who died in 2009. Jackson's body was buried inside the Great Mausoleum, which holds replicas of some of the most famous sculptures in history. Of course, Michael Jackson was quite possibly the greatest pop singer in history with millions of album sales throughout his career. Jackson's fame reached around the world during his career and his tragic passing due to cardiac arrest caused by various drugs shocked people around the world. Without a doubt, Jackson's entombment in Lawn Forest is the biggest addition to the memorial cemetery in years.
Mary Pickford
A Canadian-born actress, Mary Pickford helped co-found the studio United Artists. Also, Picked was an original founder of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Her death in 1979 resulted in her burial in the Garden of Memory, which is located in Forest Lawn Cemetery of Glendale. Other individuals buried next to her include her mother, father, siblings, and a few others who were close to her. Since 1979, Pickford's body has been in a sarcophagus in the Garden of Memory. Mary Pickford is absolutely one of the most famous women to be buried in the memorial park.
